The Triumph of the Groves, OR, THE Admiring Lovers Praise of the Amorous Charms of Beautiful MUSIDORA. To an New-play-house Tune. Licensed according to Order.
AH how sweet are the cooling breeze,
and the blooming Trees,
when into his bower,
Love guides Musidora!
When we meet there,
The Nightingales sing pritty Tales,
Mistaking my dear,
for their Goddess Aurora:
jessamines and Roses,
A Thousand pretty poses,
The summers Queen discloses,
and Strews as she walks;
Oh, Venus! oh! how sweet are the cooling breeze?
And the Blooming Trees,
when into his Bower
Love guides Musidora:
passion, Devotion,
she gains with each motion
Lutes too, and flutes to,
Are heard when she talks:
Oh Venus! Oh how sweet
are the cooling breeze, and the blooming Trees,
when into his Bower,
Love Guides Musidora!
Then Apollo comes with his Train,
And moves on the plain,
To sweeten the pleasures,
of fair Musidora,
so charming sweet,
That never was Goddess so blest
with the Rural delights,
In the presence of Flora;
The sweetest of flowers,
also dect her Shady Bowers,
Where sent by summer showers,
sweet pleasant and gay,
Ah Flora, ah how sweet are thy rich perfumes?
And thy summer blooms,
when mighty Apollo,
attends Musidora!
Treasure with pleasure,
And charms out of Measure,
Found her, and Crown'd her,
the new Queen of May,
Ah Flora! ah! how sweet are thy rich perfumes?
And thy summer Blooms,
while mighty Apollo,
Attends Musidora
Ah! how sweet are the pleasant Notes
from the Chanting Throats,
of Birds that are singing
In presence of Flora?
on the Green Trees.
To set forth the praise of my dear,
And beautiful Saint,
Whom i stile Musidora,
e'ery swain advances,
To view her youthful glances,
And pritty Cupids dances,
Round her with their Bows,
Oh Venus! Oh how sweet is the Blooming spring!
When the small Birds sing,
in praise of my jewel,
Compar'd to Aurora?
Towers and Bowers,
With Garlands of Flowers,
Graces the places,
where ever she goes,
Oh Venus, oh how sweet is the blooming springs,
how the Valleys ring,
while to the green Bower,
love Guides Musidora!
