NEH Digital Humanities Start-Up Grant (2012-2013)
In 2012 the National Endowment for the Humanities awarded EBBA a Digital Humanities Start-Up grant to develop a Ballad Illustration Archive (BIA). Since its founding in 2003, the team at EBBA has been working towards combining image-recognition technologies with structured data cataloguing to produce the most efficient and useful woodcut impression searching and browsing interface. This start-up grant is the fruition of many years of thinking about how to achieve that end.
