Conferences

EBBA has organized numerous conferences, panels, and roundtables throughout its long history. Many of these events have resulted in notable publications that significantly advanced the field of early modern English broadside ballad studies.

In April 2014, EBBA organized the "Living English Broadside Ballads" conference at the Huntington Library, which resulted in the publication of a special edition of the Huntington Library Quarterly 79, no. 2 (2016).

In the summer of 2006, the EBBA team traveled to Oxford, UK, for a curatorial roundtable with the Bodleian Library. There, EBBA and the Bodleian team working on their Broadside Ballads Online shared theories and ideas about digitizing English broadside ballads.

In February 2006, EBBA and UCSB's Early Modern Center united to organize the EMC's annual conference, "Straws in the Wind," which included a "Night of Songs" at the Chase Palm Park Center. Many of the papers presented at this conference resulted in the publication of Ballads and Broadsides in Britain, 1500-1800, edited by Patricia Fumerton and Anita Guerrini, with the assistance of Kris McAbee (Ashgate, 2010; republished London and New York: Routledge/Taylor and Frances, 2016).
