As you will notice when your browse our website, many of the woodcut illustrations depict well-dressed men and women. While early modern viewers would be familiar with many of these fashions, today's readers are much less so; this posed a challenge for cataloguers of these woodcut images. The Ballad Illustration Archive Costume Book was created to help cataloguers place typical fashions in categories based on time-period.
